Finding a long term treatment center to treat the substance abuse can be a chore as there are many things to take into consideration.

What also comes into play in finding a drug treatment program is financial resources and insurance. I mostly recommend the non-profit organizations as they tend to provide better treatment for less money. Biophysical programs is my preferred type as they really are long term and open ended, meaning that each individual completes the program at their pace. Non-profit does not mean the program is free as they most often do not have funding, but it does mean that no individuals are profitting from the misfortune of adiction.

There are no biophysical programs in Hawaii yet, so it may be neccessary to travel to the main land to get into one of those. I have been informed that a biophysical longterm drug rehab center will be opened some time in 2015.

There are state financed programs. They most often are not long term as there is not enough funding for that. If you need one of those, contact the Single State Agency for Hawaii. It is the agency that oversees all drug and alcohol treatment and its funding.

Hawaii Drug and Alcohol Problems

There is also a severe alcohol and drug problem in the state of Hawaii. The tourist industry capitalizes on the sale of alcohol and those visiting are throwing their fate to the trade winds, which makes for Emergency Room Visits that are unbalanced with alcohol and drugl-related problems.

• According to government studies, Hawaii is in the top ten of the states that have illicit drug use among people twelve and older.
• Cocaine has always been known as the part drug and since law enforcement has been effective in curtailing the methamphetamine production in Hawaii, Cocaine is back being one of the major DOC (Drug of Choice) in Hawaii.
• The Household survey shows that about 9% of those persons in Hawaii that are 18-25 have used marijuana in the past year.
• 7% of those in the same age group admitted to illicit drug use in the past month
• A shocking 10% of the populations "admits" to being dependent on Alcohol
• There were over 140 deaths from drugs in Hawail within one year.

As you can see, there are not many options for long term drug and alcohol treatment in Hawaii. You are welcome to call us and we will do what we can to help you locate an appropriate long term drug rehab center in Hawaii or on the mainland. Unfortunately, the statistics show that doing a treatment program in your own state has a higher level of those that don't finish the program. If your loved one is at a program in Hawaii, it won't be very difficult for him/her to walk out of the program and find his drug-pushing "friends" anxious to have him back on drugs.
